Energy Enterprise and Household Survey in Burkina Faso

Client: Millennium Challenge Corporation

As part of the preparation of the Second MCA program in Burkina Faso, SMJDATA was commissioned to design and collect a nationally representative survey of enterprises (formal and informal) and a nationally representative sample of households in Burkina Faso in order to estimate the willingness of consumers and enterprises to pay for electricity. An exhaustive listing of households in 160 clusters randomly selected was carried out leading to enumerate over 18, 000 households. The listing exercise was followed by the baseline data collection of about 3200 households and 1200 formal and informal enterprises. We used Surveycto and tablets to train over 70 enumerators and 10 field supervisors, pilot the survey instruments and implement the data collection and quality controls on the data.
